Campaign Introduction

The "Know Your Medicines" campaign is a joint project of the Ministry of Health (MOH) with the Malaysian Consumer Association (FOMCA). This is because of the illicit use of drugs among the people and this is not only harmful to public health, but also has a negative impact on the economy. The campaign was officiated by Health Minister Yato Dato 'Chua Soi Lek at the Melaka Megamall Heroes Square, Melaka on June 29, 2007. The campaign is currently being carried out at all pharmacy facilities at the Hospital, Health Clinic and State Enforcement Branch to ensure the message is reached. to the target audience.


Objective

The objectives of this campaign are to:

    increase consumer awareness of rational drug use
    providing users with health-related information and medicine through a variety of issues
    to make sure that the user is aware of the medication they are taking, what should and should not be taken and why
    improve reporting of side effects through patient education
    improve knowledge in the use of drugs by pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers and children
    assist the elderly in the use of medicine

Target groups

To all consumers concerned about their health and the health of their loved ones.

 
Activity

The campaign is being carried out by pharmacists from both the public and private sectors, through the following activities:

    Workshops for consumers in all states targeting both rural and urban areas
    'Know Your Medicine' exhibition and talk activities
    Surveys and studies on consumer perception and knowledge of medicine
    Ongoing promotion in mass media
